My Thoughts on the MTV Award Nominations

Normally I have been firmly against the MTV awards, aside from the acceptance speeches the awards in general are terrible, although not as bad as the National Movie Awards. First things first, I still hate the fact that Twilight is still getting award consideration from teens. Those films are terrible and the sooner the series ends, the better. That said, this year, aside from the Twilight nominations, the choices for the MTV awards are actually not that bad. I will be looking at some of the key categories and seeing how good the nominees are.
Best Breakout Star:
This is easily the best award of the show in terms of nominees, however it is also the most difficult to choose between three of the nominees. Andre Garfield for The Social Network, Chloe Grace Moretz for Kick-Ass and Hailee Steinfeld for True Grit. In terms of a breakout performance it is mainly between Moretz and Steinfeld for me but due to my geekiness and my love of Nicolas Cage I have to say that my vote is for Moretz due to the badass quality of the character and her incredible chemistry with Nicolas Cage. Although I still wouldn't be surprised if Steinfeld won. However I will be angry if Xavier Samuel wins for Twiglet.

Best Villain:
In this category the surprise is that Tom Felton has been nominated for HP7A instead of Ralph Fiennes. It is also really surprising, but not the less deserving, to see Ned Beatty nominated for Toy Story 3, his voice really fit the character of Lotso and it is great to see animated villains respected for a change.

Biggest Badass Star:
This is another category with serious competition, this time between (once again) Chloe Grace Moretz for Kick-Ass and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Inception, it is really interesting to see the co-stars of (500) Days of Summer competing against each other. Moretz will win for her performance as Hit Girl, it is a given due to her age and the action in Kick-Ass yet the gravity defying action from Gordon-Levitt does deserve an award as well. Also to those who want Alex Pettyfer to win, you're 6 years too late for giving him an award like this, him losing is punishment to those who ignored Stormbreaker when it came out.

Best Movie:
This is the first time in years when some brilliant movies have been nominated for Best Movie. Inception, The Social Network and Black Swan all deserve to be in here, I understand HP7A as that was a good film as well yet the presence of Twiglet keeps this from being perfect. Twiglet: Eclipse was pointless and served nothing to the series that wasn't already shown in Twiglet: New Moon. My hope is that Inception wins.

The awards are presented on June 5th so hopefully, the votes count in favor of wins for Chloe Grace Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, Natalie Portman, Joesph Gordon-Levitt and Inception instead of Twiglet.
