These trailers are just fun. They really sell the absurd nature of the Muppets, with the filmmakers clearly being inspired by The Great Muppet Caper for this film. The whole idea of a master criminal identical to Kermit is funny in general and the film looks like it'll be having fun with that idea. Adding Ricky Gervais to the film felt like it could have gone good or bad when I first heard about it but watching these trailers, he weirdly fits into the comedy style of the Muppets, whilst Tina Fey looks to be as funny as I thought she'd be when I heard about her character. Out of the main cast members, Ty Burrell is the only one I hadn't heard of before but he looks really funny in this, owing a great deal to Peter Sellers in The Pink Panther, having the best gags in the trailer and the pairing up of his character with Sam the Eagle looks really funny.
Of course there are the celebrity cameos as well. Between both of these trailers I saw Christoph Waltz, Danny Trejo, Salma Hayek, Ray Liotta, Celine Dion, Tom Hiddleston, looking a lot like a young Michael Palin, and I think I saw Chloe Grace Moretz in the British trailer but I can't say for certain. There is one person who I want to see in a Muppets film though and that's Adam Hills, just watch this and tell me he wouldn't be great in a Muppets film. (Skip to 5:34)
Overall, Muppets Most Wanted is a film I've been looking forward to for a long time and these trailers confirm my anticipation. I'll definitely be seeing this when it comes out next year.
P.S. Touch the f**ing frog
That was indeed Chloe Moretz in the trailer. She filmed her cameo in February.
